Show Mercy

Yes, Lord, I will continue to build my life on the foundation of my holy faith and to pray as I am directed by the Holy Spirit. I'll show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. I will encourage others and build them up. I'll show by my good life that my works are done with gentleness born of wisdom. And now all glory to You, Lord, who are able to keep me from stumbling and who will bring me into Your glorious presence innocent of sin and with great joy. (Jude 20, 22 nlt; 1 Thess. 5:11a; James 3:13b nrsv; Jude 24 nlt, all paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 164)

2

Meditate on All God's Works

O kind and loving Lord, satisfy ___________________ in the morning with Your unfailing love so that they will sing for joy and be glad all their days. "Remember, O Lord, Your great mercy and love, for they are from of old." I pray they will remember Your deeds, Lord; yes, cause them to remember Your miracles of long ago and meditate on all Your works and consider all Your mighty deeds. May they acknowledge You, O God, and serve You with wholehearted devotion and willing minds, for You search their hearts and understand every motive behind their thoughts. (Ps. 90:14 paraphrased; Ps. 25:6 not paraphrased; 77:11-12; 1 Chron. 28:9a paraphrased)

3

Encourage My Heart, O Lord

O my Deliverer, "I have become the ridicule of all my people, their taunting song all the day." "God has made my name a curse word; people spit in my face. My sight has grown weak because of my sadness, and my body is as thin as a shadow." "I am poor and helpless; God, hurry to me. You help me and save me. Lord, do not wait." Surely You will listen to my cry and comfort me. Now, Lord Jesus Christ and God my Father, who loved me and by Your grace gave me eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage my heart and strengthen me. (Lam. 3:14 nkjv; Job 17:6-7 ncv; Ps. 70:5 ncv not paraphrased; Ps. 10:17b nlt; 2 Thess. 2:16-17a paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 66)

4

Faithful Servants

I thank You, God, upon every remembrance of your faithful servants. Always in every prayer of mine for all of them I make my requests with joy, for their fellowship in the Gospel from the first day until now. Being confident of this very thing, that You who have begun a good work in them will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to think this of them because I have them in my heart. And I thank You, Christ Jesus my Lord, for Your servants that You consider to be faithful, appointing them to minister and serve You. (Phil. 1:3-7a; 1 Tim. 1:12, all kjv paraphrased)

5

Be Strong and Courageous

Almighty Protector, You have commanded me: "Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." "So we can say with confidence, ÎThe Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?'" And, Jesus, I will remember, You are with me always, to the end of the age. (Josh. 1:9b nrsv; Heb. 13:6 nrsv not paraphrased; Matt. 28:20b nrsv paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 178)

6

Forsake Me Not, O Lord

O Lord, I am facing so many uncertainties. For You have blocked my way so I cannot pass; You have shrouded my paths in darkness. You have made my heart faint; Almighty God, You have terrified me. "When I looked for good, then evil came to me; when I waited for light, there came darkness." "Forsake me not, O Lord; O my God, be not far from me." Be my strength for I am poor; be my refuge and strength, for I am needy in my distress; be my shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. I am casting my burdens on You, Lord, and releasing the weight of them to You, for You will sustain me. (Job 19:8; 23:16 paraphrased; Job 30:26 amp; Ps. 38:21 amp not paraphrased; Isa. 25:4a kjv; Ps. 55:22a amp paraphrased, A Woman's Journey Toward Holiness, 85)

7

Transformed into His Likeness

Now, Lord, You are the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And I, who with an unveiled face reflect Your glory, Lord, am being transformed into Your likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from You, Lord, who are the Spirit. For my citizenship is in heaven, from which I also eagerly wait for You, my Savior, Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform my lowly body that it may be conformed to Your glorious body, according to the working by which You are able even to subdue all things to Yourself. All glory to You, who alone are God my Savior, through Jesus Christ my Lord. Yes, glory, majesty, power, and authority belong to You in the beginning, now, and forevermore. Amen. (2 Cor. 3:17-18; Phil. 3:20-21 nkjv; Jude 25 nlt, all paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 180)

8

Abide in His Love

O Love eternal, I have known and believed the love that You have for me. God, You are love, and I who abide in love abide in You, O God, and You in me. Love has been perfected in me in this: that I may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as You are, so am I in this world. Yes, Jesus, I love You because You first loved me. (1 John 4:16-17, 19 nkjv paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 181)

9

Christ's Great Love

O Lord, I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources You will give me mighty inner strength through Your Holy Spirit. And I pray that, Christ, You will be more and more at home in my heart as I trust in You. May my roots go down deep into the soil of Your marvelous love. And may I have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love really is. May I experience Your love, Christ, though it is so great I will never fully understand it. Then I will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from You. Now glory be to You, Lord! By Your mighty power at work within me, You are able to accomplish infinitely more than I would ever dare to ask or hope. (Eph. 3:16-20 nlt paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 182)

10

Wash Away My Guilt

Ever-forgiving Savior, "Wash away all my guilt and make me clean again." "For I recognize my shameful deeds--they haunt me day and night." "You spread out our sins before you--our secret sins--and you see them all." "You are the only one I have sinned against; I have done what you say is wrong. You are right when you speak and fair when you judge." "You want me to be completely truthful, so teach me wisdom. Take away my sin, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow." (Ps. 51:2 ncv; Ps. 51:3 nlt; Ps. 90:8 nlt; Ps. 51:4, 6-7 ncv, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 148)

11

The Good Shepherd

Jesus, You are the Good Shepherd. As such You lay down Your life for the sheep. "The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep." Jesus, my Good Shepherd, You know me, and I know You--just as the Father knows You and You know the Father--and You lay down Your life for me. (John 10:11 paraphrased; 10:12-13 not paraphrased; 10:14-15 paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 183)

12

God Is My Rock

"When I said, 'My foot is slipping,' your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul." For "The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect." "Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me" (Ps. 94:18-19; Ps. 18:2, 30-32; Ps. 54:4, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 184)

13

Furnace of Adversity

Sovereign Lord, You have refined me, but not like silver; You have tested me in the furnace of adversity. Therefore, I will keep alert, stand firm in my faith, be courageous and strong. How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver! Now may I always be filled with the fruit of Your salvationÛthose good things that are produced in my life by You, Jesus ChristÛfor this will bring much glory and praise to You, O God. (Isa. 48:10 nrsv; 1 Cor. 16:13 nrsv; Prov. 16:16; Phil. 1:11 nlt, all paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 195)

14

Holy Spirit, Pray for Me

Jesus Christ, the Righteous One, if I sin, I have You who will speak to the Father in my defense. Therefore, O God, You are able once and forever to save me. I come to You through Christ Jesus, for He lives forever to plead with You on my behalf. And, Holy Spirit, You help me in my distress. For I don't even know what I should pray for, nor how I should pray. But You pray for me with groanings that I cannot express in words. And, Father, You who know my heart know what the Holy Spirit is saying, for He pleads for me in harmony with Your own will. (1 John 2:1b; Heb. 7:25 nlt; Rom. 8:26-27 nlt, all paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 199)

15

A Time for Everything

God of Justice, "I said to myself, ÎIn due season God will judge everyone, both good and bad, for all their deeds.'" "Those who obey him will not be punished. Those who are wise will find a time and a way to do what is right. Yes, there is a time and a way for everything, even as people's troubles lie heavily upon them. Indeed, how can people avoid what they don't know is going to happen? None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death." Precious in Your sight, O Lord, is the death of Your saints. Yes, Jesus, You have gone to prepare a place for us, and You will come again and receive us unto Yourself, that where You are, there we may be also. (Eccl. 3:17; 8:5-8a nlt not paraphrased; Ps. 116:15 kjv; John 14:3 kjv paraphrased)

16

I Love You, Lord

O my Shepherd, I am Yours, a sheep of Your flock. I will thank You always; forever and ever I will praise You. "I love you, O Lord, my strength." I love You, Lord my God, with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my mind and with all my strength. And I will love my neighbor as myself. There are no commandments greater than these to love God and man. (Ps. 79:13 ncv paraphrased; Ps. 18:1 not paraphrased; Mark 12:30-31 paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 162)

17

Perfecting Holiness

Hear, O Holy Lord, when I cry with my voice. Have mercy upon me, answer me, and help me. When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, Lord, will I seek." And I will purify myself from everything that contaminates my body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for You. I will flee evil desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on You, Lord, out of a pure heart. I glory in Your holy name; I seek You, and my heart rejoices. I seek You, Lord, and Your strength; I will seek Your face forevermore. (Ps. 27:7-8 kjv; 2 Cor. 7:1; 2 Tim. 2:22; Ps. 105:3-4, all paraphrased, A Woman's Journey Toward Holiness, 23)

18

Renewed by the Holy Spirit

O God my Savior, when Your kindness and love appeared, You saved me, not because of righteous things I had done, but because of Your mercy. You saved me through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom You poured out on me generously through Jesus Christ my Savior. I have begun to live the new life, in which I am being made new and am becoming like the one who made me. This new life brings me the true knowledge of You, O God. For my hope is in You, Lord, who will renew my strength. (Titus 3:4-6; Col. 3:10 ncv; Isa. 40:31a, all paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 179)

19

Finish the Race

Jesus, I'll remember that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize. I also must run in such a way that I will win. I will consider it pure joy whenever I face trials of many kinds, because I know that the testing of my faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that I may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Then I can say, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits meÛthe crown of righteousness that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that great day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his glorious return." (1 Cor. 9:24 nlt; James 1:2-4; paraphrased; 2 Tim. 4:7-8 nlt not paraphrased, A Woman's Pilgrimage of Faith, 194)

20

God's Servants

O God, empower ___________________ to preach the Word; to be prepared in season and out of season; to correct, rebuke, and encourageÛwith great patience and careful instruction. When they speak, I pray You will give them words so that they can tell the secret of the Good News without fear. Grant them strength to control themselves at all times, accept troubles, do the work of telling the Good News, and complete all the duties of a servant of God. Now I pray they will be careful for themselves and for all the people the Holy Spirit has given to them to care for. They must be like shepherds to the church of God, which You bought with the death of Your own son. (2 Tim. 4:2; Eph. 6:19 ncv; 2 Tim. 4:5 ncv; Acts 20:28 ncv, all paraphrased)

21

Praise God's Awesome Name

Glorious God of heaven, You are in Your holy temple; You are on Your heavenly throne. Who is like You, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth? Living Lord, I exalt You and worship at Your footstool; You are holy. I praise Your great and awesome name, for You are holy. There is no one holy like You; there is no one beside You. O Holy One, I will praise Your name, for Your name alone is exalted; Your splendor is above the earth and the heavens. (Ps. 11:4a; 113:5-6; 99:5, 3; 1 Sam. 2:2a; Ps. 148:13, all paraphrased, A Woman's Journey Toward Holiness, 26)

22

Give Thanks to the Lord

It is good to give thanks unto You, Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O most High, to demonstrate Your lovingkindness in the morning and Your faithfulness every night. For You make me glad by Your works; I will sing for joy because of the works of Your hands. Therefore, I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the people, and I will sing praises to Your name. To You, O God, I give thanks, to You I give thanks; for Your name is near, as Your wondrous works declare. (Ps. 92:1-2, 4; 2 Sam. 22:50; Ps. 75:1, all kjv paraphrased)

23

How Majestic Is His Name

"O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens." I will glory in Your holy name; my heart seeks You, Lord, and rejoices. I will sing to the glory of Your name; I will make Your praise glorious! "Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed." Blessed are You, King Jesus, who comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven, and glory in the highest! (Ps. 8:1 not paraphrased; 1 Chron. 16:10; Ps. 66:2 paraphrased; Rev. 15:4 not paraphrased; Luke 19:38 kjv paraphrased, A Woman's Journey Toward Holiness, 200)

24

Sacrifice of Praise

Lord Jesus, I will sacrifice a thank offering to You and call on Your name. Through You I will offer a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of my lips giving thanks to Your name. I will sacrifice a freewill offering to You, Lord; I will praise Your name, for it is good. For You have delivered me from all my troubles. I will offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving and rehearse Your deeds with shouts of joy and singing! (Ps. 116:17; Heb. 13:15 kjv; Ps. 54:6-7a; Ps. 107:22 amp, all paraphrased, A Woman's Journey Toward Holiness, 201)

25

Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving

Lord, with all the earth I make a joyful sound to You. I serve You with gladness! I come into Your presence with singing! I know, Lord, that You are God! It is You who made me, and I am yours. I belong to You; I am a sheep of Your pasture. I enter Your gates with thanksgiving and Your courts with praise! I give thanks to You and bless Your name! For You are good, and Your steadfast love endures forever, and Your faithfulness to all generations. Praise You, Lord. Praise You for Your mighty deeds; praise You for Your exceeding greatness! (Ps. 100; 150:1a-2 rsv paraphrased, A Woman's Walk with God, 113)

26

Come with Thanksgiving

"God, we thank you; we thank you because you are near. We tell about the miracles you do." "You make the grass for cattle and vegetables for the people. You make food grow from the earth." "All living things look to you for food, and you give it to them at the right time." You give food to every living creature. Your love continues forever. We give thanks to You, God of heaven. We come to You with thanksgiving. Praise You, Lord! Thank You, Lord, because You are good. Your love continues forever. (Ps. 75:1; 104:14; 145:15 ncv not paraphrased; Ps. 136:25-26a; 95:2a; 106:1 ncv paraphrased)

27

A Bountiful Harvest

Our Creator, "You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas. You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself with mighty strength. You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves and silenced the shouting of the nations. Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets, you inspire shouts of joy. You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile. The rivers of God will not run dry; they provide a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so. You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges. You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops. You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance. The wilderness becomes a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy. The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep, and the valleys are carpeted with grain. They all shout and sing for joy!" (Ps. 65:5b-13 nlt)

28

Be Thankful

"Praise the Lord! Sing a new song to the Lord; sing his praise in the meeting of his people." "Let those who worship him rejoice in his glory." I will worship You, Son of God, in the splendor of Your holiness; may all the earth tremble before You. I worship You with gladness and come before You with joyful songs. Since I am receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, I will be thankful, and so worship You, God, acceptably with reverence and awe. (Ps. 149:1, 5a ncv not paraphrased; Ps. 96:9; 100:2; Heb. 12:28 paraphrased)

29

Holy, Holy, Holy Is the Lord

"'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.'" Great are You, Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of my God, Your holy mountain. You are the Mighty One, O God, the Lord, who speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. Gracious are You, Lord, and righteous; yes, my God is merciful. My mouth will speak in praise of You, Lord. Let every creature praise Your holy name forever and ever. (Rev. 4:8b not paraphrased; Ps. 48:1; 50:1; Ps. 116:5 kjv; Ps. 145:21 paraphrased, A Woman's Journey Toward Holiness, 214)

30

Praise the Lord!

"Praise the Lord! Praise God in his Temple; praise him in his mighty heaven. Praise him for his strength; praise him for his greatness. Praise him with trumpet blasts; praise him with harps and lyres. Praise him with tambourines and dancing; praise him with stringed instruments and flutes. Praise him with loud cymbals; praise him with crashing cymbals. Let everything that breathes praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!" (Ps. 150 ncv)
